This customer in Kingsteignton, Devon required new guttering, fascias, soffit boards and the whole house re-painting. Self-build scaffolding was required at each side of the house as to reach the guttering and paint safely.
Here are some before pictures (click on the images to view them bigger):
- Brown (faded to black) guttering and down pipes
- Algae covered side walls
- Cavity wall filled cement marks on the exterior walls
The scaffolding logistics made this job very tricky; put the tower up – take the tower down – move the tower – put the tower up again. Making sure that it wasn’t moved/built unnecessarily saving/costing time, but it proved to be no problem.
The weather also tried to scupper the schedule, but we were able to move on to the plastics side of the job and come back to the painting once the weather improved.
Here are some more images to show how the job progressed to the finished article (click on the images to view them bigger):
Rear Guttering and Fascias
Scaffolding Tower at the Rear
Erecting the tower made doing the fascias, soffits, guttering and downpipes a lot easier and therefore safer compared to using a long ladder.
Front Guttering, Fascias & Painting
Painting the side of the House
This was really awkward due to the narrowness of the paths leading around the side of the house. It required a three story tower and a long roller to reach right to the top. Before two coats of paint could be applied the algae needed to be removed and painted to stop it coming back. The paint used also contained antifungal agents therefore preventing this happening again.
Et Voila
All finished… and it looks like a new house. Changing the brown plastics and fascias to white now ties in with the uPVC windows and gives the house a clean fresh look.
